Two tools, two intentions

A warm-up gradually prepares the body and attention for the movement demands ahead. Stretching is one possible mobility tool, but it does not replace a full warm-up.

A useful dance warm-up can progress from general movement to joint-specific preparation and then to patterns that resemble the choreography or technique being practiced.

Make it specific

The most useful preparation reflects the session. Footwork-heavy rehearsal, repeated deep positions, turns, and expressive upper-body work may each call for different preparation.

There is no single routine for every body or every dance form. A qualified health professional can help adapt movement when pain, injury, or a health condition is present.
