Look beyond hours alone

Training load is a way of thinking about how much demand the body is managing. Duration matters, but so do intensity, repetition, new choreography, performance stress, sleep, and recovery.

A sudden change, such as an intensive rehearsal week after a quieter period, can feel different from a gradual increase, even when the total hours eventually match.

Build awareness, not fear

Tracking energy, soreness, sleep, and changes in pain can support better conversations with teachers, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.

The goal is not to make dancers anxious about movement. It is to help them notice patterns and make informed choices that sustain their practice.
